The Drummond name has an excellent reputation in both the domestic and international
coal markets, signifying to customers an extensive quality control program, reliable
delivery, excellent service, and a quality product. The Company combines over 75
years of coal mining expertise in the United States with 16 years of experience
in Colombia. Our stringent quality controls ensure that our customer's specifications
are consistently met.
Drummond-produced coal helps satisfy higher standards in energy demand and our expertise
produces efficiencies that benefit our customers. Drummond prides itself on being
responsive to the marketplace and, as such, has been marketing its Colombian coal
that is both eco-friendly and economically beneficial. The primary impact of this
coal is the reduction in sulfur dioxide output, resulting from the lower inherent
sulfur at Drummond International's Colombian mines. Additionally, as utilities face more stringent
NOx requirements, consumption of Drummond coal is a lower-cost compliance strategy
relative to installation of scrubbers and other capital intensive equipment.
Drummond's coal is marketed and sold both internationally and domestically, serving
customers in Europe and the Mediterranean, the United States, South America, and
Asia. The joint venture in Colombia between Drummond Company, Inc. and a subsidiary of ITOCHU Corporation
benefits from ITOCHU's extensive global network, particularly in Asia.
Delivery of Drummond's coal is ensured by its proximity to both rail and ports,
accommodating both large and small vessels.
