Land has always been both a valuable asset and treasured resource for Drummond. Over the years, our mining operations have presented us with unique opportunities to acquire sizable land holdings. As a result, land and forestry management have become increasingly significant operating activities for Drummond. A natural extension of the core businesses, our real estate division has enabled us to develop significant land positions across the United States and to diversify our business interests.
Over the past 25 years, Drummond has taken a significant interest in four large, master planned communities: Grasslands Homes, located in Lakeland, Florida; Liberty Park, located near Birmingham in Vestavia Hills, Alabama; Rancho La Quinta, located near Palm Springs in La Quinta, California; and Andalusia at Coral Mountain, also located in La Quinta, California.
Together, these developments represent a total of 6,646 acres, five premier 18 hole golf courses, four exclusive private clubs, and will have approximately 7,500 homes at completion.
Though these developments are spread across the United States, they all have one thing in common; they are each “Best in Class” in the markets in which they are located. In all development projects, Drummond ensures detailed planning, flawless development execution, the preservation of natural spaces, a dedication to great architecture, the delivery of extraordinary services, and the weaving together of lasting friendships and relationships among owners that becomes the defining fabric of great communities.
